Most of us know that Google is the biggest search engine on the planet by a long way. But unless you work in an SEO agency, you might not know that there are a wealth of hidden tricks to help you get more out of it. From general productivity enhancements to search engine optimization hacks, these nine tricks will make your life easier and help you get more done.

1. Google is more than just your search engine

Google is a search engine, but it’s also a suite of software tools, such as Google Drive, which lets you store and share files, and Google Sheets, which lets you create spreadsheets. It’s also an advertising platform that lets you show ads in search results and on apps. It’s a video platform, with YouTube. It’s a document library, with Google Drive. It has Gmail. It has ads. It has translation tools, with Google Translate. Other services — including YouTube and Gmail — are built into the core operating system. Beyond that, Google offers its own apps and extensions for things like email, calendar, and hardware. You can use Google Search or Gmail. You can use Google Search or Google Sheets. You can use YouTube, YouTube TV, and Google Play Music, and use whatever else you want on any phone or tablet. You can use it on Chromebooks, Android phones, iOS phones, and even Kindle tablets. But you don’t have to rely solely on Google. Other search engines offer extra functionality that Google doesn’t (Google may have it, but so does Bing, and those services are actively being developed). You can look for information on another search engine like DuckDuckGo, or you can use services like SearchMetrics, WebFX, or WebSumo, for help putting together complex SEO strategies for other platforms or on a dependence-free web browser. You can use another search engine like Bing, Yahoo, or Ahrefs. And of course, there are plenty of standalone search engines. Google’s single-purpose operating system is now no longer enough. Companies and people are now turning to Google alternatives because the company itself can no longer support and update as many products as it once could. What started out as a search engine is now a suite of software tools. In recent years, however, Google has had a more active strategy to make sure that all of its products serve user needs. After you combine all of these tools, combined, anything you might want to search for could be found.

2. Google also has apps for your computer, phone, and tablet

Google is a search engine, but it’s also a lot of other things. It has the popular Chrome web browser, email service Gmail, and apps for your computer, phone, and tablet. Google also owns YouTube, a popular video streaming service, and Google Maps, which provides navigation and directions. Bullet Point:3.Keep sections of your site clearly separated—don’t have too many on one page. Before SEO, I tried using just two pages on my business website. My home page had all the important information, like a contact page where I could answer any questions or hire a freelancer. The rest of the pages displayed my open rates and other information relevant to my business at large. It was a mess. I didn’t know what any of that meant and this formulaic structure wouldn’t scale. Search results on Google are structured in a way that groups similar keywords together under the same topic. This means that if you use different keywords on different pages, your SEO score will suffer in terms of how deep to display them. There were definitely benefits to this in the beginning, but over time, as I started writing for more publications and gaining more experience in general writing, I found that adding keywords to my content consistently led to better SEO. It’s one of the most overlooked SEO fundamentals when it comes to getting new traffic and converting them into leads. Bullet Point:4. Have a few keywords that dominate a large part of your content. YouTube passengers love search engine optimization — and they’re everywhere. Think of it as the invisible marketing tactic that helps amplify your video content. Whenever I have a video going, I make sure to optimize it for SEO. And I just use one keyword to do it. That one keyword is “cars”. Cars are my niche topic, so that’s what I focus on. Anything outside of that — I leave for dead because the quality just isn’t there.

3. Save time with smart shortcuts and tricks to speed up SEO

There are many little things you can do to improve your SEO and save yourself time. For example, you can create a sitemap and submit it to Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools. A sitemap helps Google and Bing know what pages are on your site so it can catalog them appropriately and help users find the information they need. You should always include useful keywords in your title tag and your meta description. Even if you only have a fleeting presence on the search engine, adding useful keywords will change the algorithm enough to make having a presence a good move. This tip is an excellent one when it comes to bulk email list building. You can automatically sign up new followers by linking a Facebook page below your Google profile and prompting people to follow you and to like your page. One final tip I want to mention with respect to Google Search Engine Optimization is to treat your website like a small business does. Things like fresh and relevant content in the header and footer of your website can contribute to better rankings. Now, if you are looking for secrets to get you ahead of everyone else, I am afraid I’ll have to pass on some of those. Many of the SEO hacks out there can easily be automated to add value easily and in the shortest possible time. With so many SEO tips out there to help us get started, choosing the right one can be quite a task. For competitive keywords, use competitive browser rankings as a reference. Remember, Google is not looking for a description of your site, it’s looking for an answer to a specific query. Do your utmost to answer the question “what’s your site about?” and look at what people are searching for to find out. We can get started with three simple questions to see what search engines like Google are looking for: “What’s your website about?”— this can be blank or customized.

4. Find the best possible version of a website you're searching for

The best way to get the most out of a website is to find the best possible version of it. For example, if you’re searching for a recipe, find the best version of that recipe based on reviews and star rating.1. Find the most relevant queries and personalize search results Google has algorithms that determine which queries you see first. For example, when creating SEO content, you should find terms people are searching for such as “SEO company,” “SEO tool,” and “content marketing ideas.” By adding these terms to your search query, you make it easier for Google to show lower quality results to you. In addition, by adding additional keywords to your search query, you will show higher quality results to Google. Since we know Google only shows 10–20% of the search results based on the original query, this tactic makes it easier to get shown all the relevant search queries. 2. Ignore the top of the page Make sure you don’t get tricked into saving any page or click any link that doesn’t lead you to the top of the page. Clicking on anything on the right side of the screen will take you to the homepage (and in most cases, this is wasting time and is a waste of your ranking potential). You can also click the hamburger menu to quickly jump to different sections. And if you hate reading blog titles, don’t worry, just copy the text from the bottom half of the page and paste it into BuzzSumo. 3. Analyze referrals from reviews If you’re referring a customer to someone now, you can easily use Google Analytics to give that customer a thank you or a mention on your website. This is a great way to build genuine relationships and prompt people to visit your site again. 4. Boost your rankings without manual penalties Violating search engine guidelines is unethical. Remember, there are always 100 ways to make your website violate its guidelines.

5. Use Google to find information about people, places, and things anywhere in the world

We live in a digital world where most physical libraries and encyclopedias have been replaced by the internet. Google has become one of the most popular websites in the world because it has everything you could ever dream of finding on the internet and it has it all in one place. But there are things you can’t get from Google search. And it’s time to find them out! A lot of people, myself included, focus heavily on keywords that they can rank for. But, if you won’t put in the work to target the right keywords, then you’ll never rank for them! I’ve always been the biggest advocate of building a knowledge marketplace on the internet. A marketplace of ideas and a marketplace of skills. Removing human bias from search is vital for getting business results. And hopefully, these nine SEO tricks will help you do just that. One of the most effective hacks I could have used a few years ago might be just what you are looking for! Efficient search algorithms are the essence of a successful search engine. With Google’s latest changes, making your website visible to the world has never been easier. But, what happens if your website falls behind in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages)? Actually, it happens a lot. With Penguin updates, Google will penalize specific domains if the ranking for those met certain criteria. For instance: if a domain has been around for less then three years, they will be penalized. This is a harsh penalty but it helps tweak the algorithm in the long run. As the website has been around, long enough, your site should already have some valuable content. This means altering the structured data markup on the official website or tweaking the page structure in any way will help your rankings improve. You might get some weird errors at first but check again after a quick google. Also, you should obviously make sure that your site is portable.
